Been back several times. Have always found them good to work with and they will work through most any issue. If one takes the time to listen to the solution, you have the opportunity to decide for yourself whether or not to proceed with the repair.
I then went to Quality Shoe Repair on Market St., Frederick. What a fabulous place.
This year took another pair in to be dyed. New guy working there. Asked him to dye the shoes. He looks at me, lays them down & said 'probably not'. I asked why. He said the cost ... I said last year it was $25. Then he goes into a diatribe about the former fellow that he 'fired'. Then I asked 'price, then' ... he says $75. I left with my shoes.
I have always been satisfied and will continue to ask them for their services.
ZERO is what this should say. Last year took a pair of shoes to be dyed. It took 4 attempts to get to the right color, over several weeks. Terrible lack of communication on this shops part, to me. $25, reasonable charge, too long a time.
Have been going to this place since the late 1970's, happy to say that while the owner has changed the new one does even a better job. Brought in an old lifeless falling apart pair of cowboy boots to have the falling apart fixed. While the old owner would grumble around his cigar a lot he would do a great job on the falling apart. The new owners fixed the falling apart even better and then went on to the old and lifeless aspects by conditioning and polishing to a mirror (for these boots i'll call it a mirror) shine. Held back one star because I'm old and miserable and think everything cost too much anymore, they were reasonable, God save us, like I said i'm just miserable. Go there if you care for the shoes or boots and you want more like new life out of them.
Repaired my Carolina boots that had the leather sole pulling away from the boot. Reglued the sole, and tacked in new leather to hold everything in place. Great looking job, and like new again. Repaired the pair for $40 in just a few days. I'd go back there again for sure!
Deserved a 0. I was recommended to go here to have a purse strap repaired. They unnecessarily replaced an entire loop of the purse and the stitching was crooked. The thread isn't the same color as the purse, nor did they try to match it, and it's on the front where it's most visible. They then reinforced the other strap on the back which did turn out straight. When I asked why they stitched it crooked on the front he just kept repeating that they did the back reinforcement free of charge. And added that leather is difficult to stitch through, but is that not your business? If you advertise to be professionals I expect an actual good job. I will definitely recommend that people find somewhere else to go.
The gentleman had a very professional attitude, $35 price & did a wonderful job in the time (short) that was needed.
